NCAA SSI announces 'Interassociation Consensus Statement on Cardiovascular Care for Student-Athletes'

The NCAA Sport Science Institute recently announced the publication of an "Interassociation Consensus Statement on Cardiovascular Care of College Student-Athletes." An outcome of the 2014 NCAA Cardiac Task Force, the consensus statement provides recommendations for team physicians and athletic trainers. George Washington athletics, health professionals unite to support student-athlete mental wellness

NCAA CHOICES grant program selects winners

The NCAA CHOICES program provides funding for NCAA member institutions and conferences to integrate athletics departments into campus-wide efforts to reduce alcohol abuse. NCAA CHOICES projects must partner athletics with other campus departments in the development and implementation of effective alcohol education projects. Nine schools added to NCAA-Department of Defense concussion study

Nine schools have been added to the largest-ever study of concussion in sport, as part of the NCAA-Department of Defense Concussion Assessment, Research and Education Consortium study. Hainline, Parsons honored by NATA

Dr. Brian Hainline, NCAA Chief Medical Officer, and John Parson, director of the SSI, will both receive awards from the National Athletic Trainers' Association the June Dallas meeting. Hainline will be the inaugural recipient of the President's Award, given for unwavering leadership in support of NATA, the athletic training profession and most importantly, the student-athlete.

Parsons was selected as one of the NATA's 2016 Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer award recipients. This award recognizes NATA members who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to leadership, volunteer service, advocacy and distinguished professional activities as an athletic trainer.

CSMAS Meeting, June 15-17, Dallas
