Tip of the Quarter

How to keep emotions from leading your communications  Everyone agrees that communication is important, and most of us work hard to hone this essential skill.  However, if we looked at a dictionary’s definition of communication, we might learn that we are expressing our thoughts in a nonproductive, emotional manner rather than truly sharing how we feel about the situation, while acknowledging the other person’s views.

Inside Perspective

We recently asked Kiki Jacobs, newly appointed athletics director at Roger Williams, a few questions.

What is your elevator pitch for Division III? Division III athletics is the best. It is the "highest" Division where students can be successful in the classroom, on the athletic venues, and be a full member of the campus community.  I wouldn't be anywhere else.

What advice would you give someone seeking a career in Division III athletics?  1) Ask for advice; don't ask for a job; 2) Volunteer to do anything and everything; 3) Set up informational interviews; and 4) Get a master's degree.
