The Division III National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has participated in several discussions regarding social justice. The committee has discussed its “why” for pursuing change; the impacts of racial injustice on intercollegiate athletics; and the role of Division III campus SAACs. SSI announced that the NCAA Freshman Experience curriculum is open for registration for freshman and first-year transfer student-athletes on a first-come, first-serve basis at no charge to the membership for the 2020-21 academic year. There’s no doubt in my mind that having great mentors, who have all been exceptional human beings, has made the most impact on my career in athletics. How do you balance work and family? Very intentionally! It all starts with one’s mindset. First and foremost I’m not striving for balance, I am focusing on creating integration. What fuels your passion to develop and mentor student-athletes? I realize that I am first and foremost an educator, leader, and even more importantly, a role-model for all student-athletes.
